We publish the press release which was issued following the difficult year of Garda Dop.

The 2019/20 olive oil campaign in fact recorded a -90 / 95% of production. Our company, unlike many others, still managed to produce and certify Dop. The quantities unfortunately follow the percentages of the whole Garda area.

Confagricoltura speaks of a bad year

Collapse of production up to 80 percent and estimated losses of around 10 million euros. For the Verona area, the 2019 harvest closes with a strongly negative balance due to an adverse weather, which hit the plants in full bloom. After an excellent 2018, crowned by an abundant production (220,000 quintals of olives in Veneto), this year many olive growers will not even put the nets on the ground for harvesting, because the product is very little. “It was cold when it had to be hot and hot when it was cold – underlines Alessandra Di Canossa, vice president of the olive growers sector of Confagricoltura Verona -. The very rainy and cold month of May heavily interfered in the flowering, as the olive blossom is very delicate and needs a good climate to develop. Dop Garda 2017/18 – The new olive oil campaign is on sale!

Our extra virgin olive oil DOP Marchese di Canossa was packaged on February 28th, after having vey well passed all the CSQA analysis for certification.
It is a D.o.p. Eastern Garda exclusively produced in our olive groves owned in Garda and Torri del Benaco, on the Verona side of Lake Garda. Already winner of the Verona Olive Oil Contest 2018, you will also find us at the Sol & Agrifood in Verona.
Lightly fruity, with delicate spicy notes and a typical almond aftertaste, the DOP Marchese di Canossa has a very low percentage of oleic acid: 0.14 (organoleptic analysis by CSQA) – for comparison, theDop Garda consortium admits a maximum acidity of 0.5, while to be defined extra virgin, an olive oil must have a maximum acidity of 0.8.
With a gentle taste, it combines perfectly with many preparations, even raw.
Perfect on fish dishes, pinzimonio, meat carpaccio and vegetables both cooked and raw; it is also ideal for preparing desserts, accompanying tasty delicatessen dishes and ice cream.
For mothers and fathers: the Garda Dop, thanks to its delicacy, is also ideal for the preparation of children’s dishes, starting from the very beginning of weaning!

The first monocultivar casaliva branded by Marchese di Canossa has born this year.

The extra virgin olive oil Canossa 1077, obtained by the selection of the Fondo Brè estate olives has been enriched with a novelty this year: 100% exclusively  made by Casaliva variety of olives.

As we know, Italy is the country with the greatest amount in terms on numbers of cultivars, ie different varieties of olives. There are more than 530 cultivars in our territory, corresponding to 42% of the world heritage. In order to understand the numbers, just think that in Spain, secondo in then ranking, there are just over 180.


There are cultivars that can be found at a national level (as Leccino, Pendolino or Frantorio), or cultivars that express the features of a certain territory therefore are found exclusively in specific geographical areas: this is the case of the Caaliva variety which os a native species of Garda lake.

For this reason, during the October 2016 harvest, Marchese di Canossa wanted to honor its territory with a new extra virgin olive oil: the Canossa 1077. It has been certified Dop Eastern Garda, in order to combine the olive selection with the Dop certification for a guaranteed quality product for the consumer.

Finally, we wanted to make this bottles more and more special thanks to our most historical label, the sifn of Matilde di Canossa.

WardaGarda: Garda Dop olive oil Festival


WardaGarda, the first edition of the Garda Dop olive oil Festival is ready to start! It will take place in Cavaion Veronese, September 3rd and 4th, at the headquarters of the Garda Dop extra virgin olive oil producers association.

It is a great opportunity to learn about one of the iconic products of the Garda territory, the Dop extra virgin olive oil. There will be panel discussion, tastings and show cooking where our precious oil will be the masterpiece. Sunday 4th there will be a market where the oil can be bought.

We are going to be there with our Dop Fondo Brè and Dop Marchese di Canossa. We will see each other, chat, try our oil and (why not?) “refuel” our kitchens for winter!!!

February 27th the Dop Fondo Brè extra virgin olive oil will be at the 5th edition of Golositalia 2016 fair, where ” the Italian food and wine is “.

600 exhibitors and 72.000 expected visitors from February 27th to March 1st at the Garda Fair Center in Montichiari will valorize the Italian culinary excellence by focusing on products that characterize our territory and enhancing the appeal of Italian Food in the world .

The Marchese di Canossa farm will attend with the Garda Dop oil Fondo Brè by the Consortium stand.

Extra virgin: pleasure and well-being

About Us,

Yesterday we participated with our Dop Marchese di Canossa  to the event at the headquarters of Confagricoltura – Rome entitled “Olive oil: the pleasure of well-being.” There were about thirty producers and we were able to taste all the excellent extra virgin olive oils of the various Italian regions. There has been talk of the countless varieties of olives in Italy, the need to defend and pass on our heritage and, above all, the extra virgin olive oil characteristics that we often forget as consumers: it is effective in the prevention of arterial disorders and heart, lowers the level of cholesterol in the blood, has an anti-aging function as it is rich in vitamin E, beta-carotene (provitamin a) and antioxidants, such as phenolic compounds. It protects against decalcification and osteoporosis and has an effective preventive action against breast cancer and those of the gastrointestinal tract.

So the important thing is to protect and to know what we eat, and the extra virgin olive oil has the characteristics that increase both the pleasure and our well-being.

New Year, new bottle… new oil!

With a slightly modified label, the new anti-topping cap, we have just finished packing the new Garda Dop extra virgin olive oil Fondo Brè. We hope this will be a year sul, of satisfaction as it was the last one, with many awards that we will try to honor.

A delicate oil, medium fruity and above all, 100% safe and healthy.
